PENN Entertainment Inc., a global sports entertainment firm, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new hotel tower at M Resort, a $206 million project, at 2 PM PST on December 12th. The event will feature dignitaries such as the Henderson City Council, M Resort and PENN executives, Mayor Michelle Romero, and Commissioner Michael Naft. They will turn over a shovelful of dirt at the site of the new building.
The second hotel tower will add 384 rooms to M Resort, bringing the total capacity to 774 rooms. It will also include updated amenities and additional meeting space. The location of the new tower will be southeast of and connected to the existing tower, with underground links to enable fresh convention establishments below the resort.
Hussain Mahrous, Vice President and General Manager of M Resort, announced that construction is expected to begin within 60 days, with the tower ready to open in 18 months. He expressed excitement about the expansion and the prospect of hiring new team members. The entire project is part of an $850 million extension project that includes PENN facilities in Ohio, Illinois, and Nevada.
M Resort takes advantage of sports in downtown Henderson, billing itself as the Official Team Headquarters Hotel of the Las Vegas Raiders and forming partnerships with the Henderson Silver Knights and Foley Entertainment Group. The resort is located a mile away from the Raiders’ headquarters, and more local alliances are anticipated in the future.
Despite the construction, none of the existing public spaces at M Resort will be affected. Mahrous assured that there may be some construction noise on the property, but they won’t have to close anything. The additional capacity is expected to make the resort even more vibrant when the new tower opens.
