The American Gaming Association (AGA) has announced that Michael Rumbolz, the executive president of Everi Holdings Inc., will be taking over as the new president of AGA from January 2024. Rumbolz will be replacing Jim Allen, the CEO of Seminole Gaming and President of Hard Rock International, who has held the position since January of the previous year.
Rumbolz brings rich experience to his new role, with a career that has spanned every facet and level of the gaming industry. He has worked his way up from being a busboy to becoming a C-suite executive, with experience in gaming equipment production and distribution, casino fin-tech, gaming legislation and regulation, hotel and casino operations, and digital gaming. Rumbolz was also the former CEO and President of Everi, as well as a Chief Deputy Attorney General of Nevada and a Member and Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Upon his appointment, Rumbolz expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help shape the future of gaming and build on the progress made during Jim Allen’s tenure. AGA President and CEO Bill Miller welcomed Rumbolz as the next AGA chairman, highlighting his unparalleled career as an operator, manufacturer, and regulator within the industry.
During Jim Allen’s presidency, the AGA has supported the industry’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, worked on developing an industry approach to responsible gaming, and launched new efforts to prevent illegal gambling. The AGA has also released a report showing that US commercial gaming income reached $16.17 billion in the Q3 2023, marking its best Q3 ever and representing the second-biggest quarter for commercial gaming. Despite early signs of a slowdown in the fourth quarter, the US industry is poised to experience its third consecutive record year, with a 9.9% increase from the previous year.
Overall, Rumbolz’s appointment and the industry’s continued growth are setting the stage for an exciting future for the American gaming industry.
