The Hard Rock Casino Rockford continues to exceed expectations with its record-breaking revenue. Located on Bell School Road in Illinois, the temporary casino completed its second and final year of operation with a staggering revenue recorded in December.
Geno Iafrate, President of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, expressed his satisfaction with the results from the past year, stating that it was a year of milestones for the casino. One of the key milestones was the Hard Rock Opening Act. While Iafrate is excited about the opening of the permanent casino, he also mentioned that bidding farewell to the temporary one would be bittersweet.
The Rockford Casino generated over $69 million in revenue in 2023, marking a 26% increase from 2022 when the revenue was $54.8 million. Additionally, the Illinois Gaming Board announced a new monthly record in December, with the revenue reaching $6.5 million.
In April 2023, table games were introduced, leading to an increase in the number of employees to over 350. Initially, the casino had six live table games, including blackjack, Three Card Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em. Later, more table games such as Mississippi Stud, roulette, and Mini-Baccarat were added, with the most recent addition being a craps table.
Since its opening in November 2021, the temporary casino has seen over a million guests from 50 states, the District of Columbia, and seven other countries. In 2023, the number of guests increased by 32% compared to 2022.
While plans to launch a sports book in Rockford in 2023 did not materialize, the company anticipates the launch at the beginning of 2024, pending the issuance of a license by the Illinois Gaming Board. The construction of the permanent casino resort is nearing completion and is expected to open in the summer of 2024. It will feature 1,300 slot machines, an advanced sports book, 44 table games, including blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and craps, along with a poker room, the Hard Rock Café, and the Hard Rock Live event center.
The new casino will be across 180,000 square feet, and it will be located on East State Street at the exit of Interstate 90. It is estimated that the casino will employ approximately 400 new employees.
