The Queens of Tallinn 2023 poker festival made history as the first-ever women-only poker festival in Europe, and it took place in Tallinn, Estonia from November 30 to December 3, 2023. The luxurious Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Hotel provided the setting for this groundbreaking event, which attracted over 150 female players from 15 different countries.
Organized by OlyBet, the festival featured a total of eleven events, with ten of them exclusively for female poker players. The main event, the Queens of Tallinn 2023 Main Event, saw 65 buy-ins and offered a significant €19,246 prize pool for the finalists. The top eight players received rewards, with Lithuanian player Marta Porter emerging as the winner of the €350 buy-in main event on December 3, 2023. She claimed the first prize of €6,167, while Estonian competitor Catlin Muur secured the second place with a €4,050 prize and Lithuanian player Indre Martoviciute taking the third position with a €2,740 prize.
The festival wasn’t just about playing cards; it was a celebration of women in the world of poker. Christer Larsson, OlyBet Group Poker Director, expressed their delight at the positive feedback from the female participants, stating, “With the first women’s poker festival, we wanted to give women more opportunities to test themselves in a competitive situation against other female players.”
The success of the festival reflects the increasing participation of women in poker tournaments. A recent study revealed a 22% increase in female poker players across Britain in 2022. The European-first, women-only poker festival held in Tallinn, Estonia serves as another testament to this trend.
The festival also featured the Ladies and Gentlemen tournament, where experienced Estonian poker tournament player Imre Leibold emerged as the winner.
